Your hosts Ingrid and Daniel Bumann-Jossen are born in the Valais region.
Daniel, the creative boss
is working the stove in the kitchen day for day, constantly running and improving the
Pirani Dream-Team. Daniel was born on december 19th 1958 as the
second oldest of four kids in Basel, and grew up at the
family run Inn above the city of Saas-Fee/VS. After his
apprenticeship as chef in Leukerbad, his way lead him
through several stations in Switzerland. from 1981 to
1990, Daniel recorded responsibility for the kitchens
of two leading high-end hotels. during this period,
he also successfully completed the higher exams
to federal diploma as chef, won the world champion
title and gained gold at olympic games.
Ingrid, the cordial host
cares lovingly for her guest, the team and the family.
Ingrid was born on october 29th 1963 in Brig-Glis/VS
as the second oldest of four kids and has her
origin in Mund, Naters, Brig-Glis and Saas-Fee.
raised in Leukerbad, her father as Director of
the local ski resort introduced her early with the
importance of tourism.
Her education in the hospitality industry not
only introduced her to the many facets of this
profession, but also to her Daniel.
are going out since 1980, got married in 1985, and are proud parents of two children; Christian-Otto, born in 1987, and Josiane-Chantal, born in 1990.
In december 1990, Ingrid and Daniel opened their first own restaurant in Naters/VS. Bumanns Kulinarium was a successful story for five years.
1995 the Bumann's moved to the Engedine Valley and proved rather popular. with their passion and drive, they made the BUMANNS CHESA PIRANI to one of the very finest restaurants in Switzerland, awarded with the Milestone Tourism Award in 2004, best host team in 2006 and restaurant of the year in 2008.
Daniel was awarded Newcomer of the year in 2003 with 18 GaultMillau points and two stars Michelin.
Ingrid and Daniel like to play Golf, and are about to improve their handicap in their spare time. Daniel is a great soccer fan, and goes running in the nature to gain new inspiration for his menus.
Ingrid likes to relax while reading, and is a admitting fan of movies and tv programs. Together they enjoy a game of poker, monopoly or swiss ‘jassen'.
